Full Description:

Our client is a leading provider of a comprehensive range of financial solutions. They are looking an Actuarial Assurance Specialist to join their team. The role will support the provision of independent assurance to the Board, Audit Committees and Management. The role also includes travelling to execute assignments on-site in various group businesses in Johannesburg, and in the rest of Africa. 

 

Candidates who are interested should be a Nearly / Newly Qualified Actuary with at least 6 years’ actuarial experience in life assurance and/or general insurance. You should have knowledge of SAM and/or Solvency II  and EV methodologies. You should have working knowledge of IFRS17 as well as balance sheet management, capital management and investment risks. You should be abreast of regulatory and governance developments. Experience in Prophet and/or Mo.Net would be advantageous. You should have the ability to manage stakeholder relationships with internal and external partners and service providers.  

 

Responsibilities will include: 

 

  • Supporting overall planning and execution of actuarial assurance assignments group-wide.  
  • Working with Group Actuarial & Risk Management to understand and execute on combined assurance. 
  • Planning and execution of specific audit assignments such as validation of actuarial and financial models, processes and controls regarding the management of market, credit and insurance risks, and actuarial and financial reporting under various internal and statutory bases, including SAM, Solvency II and EV. 
  • Assurance activities relating to governance, specifically the adequacy of risk management and actuarial control functions across the Group, as well as ORSA processes established under SAM and Solvency II and Head of Control Function reviews. 
  • Supporting in providing specialist assurance over the Group’s IFRS17 models.  This relates to the control environments pertaining to actuarial data and modelling, actuarial processes, valuations and reporting functions.
