Full Description:

Our client is a South African-based financial services group providing a diverse range of investment and insurance solutions to individuals and businesses. They are looking for a Nearly or Newly Qualified Actuary to join their Life Valuations team as a Manager. The main purpose of the role is to drive all regulatory, risk and management valuations reporting done in the team comprising three actuarial analysts, as well as driving the key deliverables and support to the different business units.

Candidates who are interested should have experience in actuarial valuations (including SAM or ORSA) for a Life company. You should have team management experience and an understanding of wealth and investments products and experience in budgeting processes. You should have experience in VBA, SQL, Python, R or PowerBI. You should be a decision-maker with communication and organisation skills who pays attention to detail.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the valuation and financial reporting processes in line with industry standards.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive business strategy and decision-making, including providing input into the annual budgeting process.
  • Providing mentorship and development opportunities for junior actuarial staff.
  • Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices in actuarial analysis.
  • Engaging with the HAF on deliverables to the group.
  • Engaging with both internal and external auditors.
  • Working towards meeting deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • Being able to explain actuarial concepts to non-actuarial stakeholders.
