
Full Description:
Our client is a prominent South African financial services group with a diverse portfolio of short-term insurers. They are looking for a Nearly or Newly Qualified Actuary to join their Non-Life Corporate Actuarial team as a Manager. The purpose of the role is to manage a team of actuarial analysts in the Corporate Actuarial team that support the business goals as set out by senior management, by effectively modelling and monitoring business actuarial solutions.
Candidates who are interested should have at least 3 years’ actuarial experience in a Short-Term insurance environment. You should have at least 1 years’ experience of planning and managing resources to deliver predetermined objectives as specified by more senior managers. You should have good managing, communication and presentation skills. You should have good planning and organisation skills and pay attention to detail. You should be good in collecting and analysing data.
Responsibilities will include:
- Analysing business requirements and identifying root causes.
- Documenting business requirements in the scope of use, definitions and assumptions made.
- Developing solutions that address business requirements and objectives.
- Keeping stakeholders informed and up to date with project/analysis delivery and providing clear and concise feedback to stakeholders.
- Using data from a wide range of sources to analyse key themes and identifying possible impacts on the business.
- Extracting and verifying data used for actuarial models.
- Translating business objectives into clearly defined business cases, costs and schedules to support growth in the business.
- Ensuring that actuarial models and processes are developed, implemented and monitored.
- Ensuring that there are process documents in place to ensure that the models can be understood by external stakeholders.
- Planning and delivering system changes and managing the team on a day-to-day basis to meet project timelines and quality requirements.
- Engaging with users to identify requirements and working with the team to design solutions.
- Performing effective impact and sensitivity analysis before any deployment is done.
- Identifying shortcomings in existing business practices, then suggesting and implementing improvements while developing and delivering projects or a work stream in the organisation’s change management programme.
