Full Description:

Our client is a South African financial institution known for its innovative and accessible banking and insurance solutions. They are looking for a Finance Actuary to join their Life Insurance team. This role is responsible for valuation, financial reporting and management reporting duties for the Business. 

 

Candidates who are interested should be a Qualified Actuary with at least 3 years’ experience in the Insurance industry, including valuation, reporting and / or capital management. You should have experience in IFRS17 and Prophet or other modelling software, as well as data visualisation technologies such as Power BI. You should also have experience in working with a team with multiple deliverables. 

 

Responsibilities will include: 

 

  • Participating in the periodic IFRS 17 insurance contract liability and profit calculations on an IFRS 17 basis. 
  • Participating in the forecasted IFRS 17 profit calculations for the annual budget and monthly re-forecasting. 
  • Supporting the calculation of solvency requirements as specified in the Financial Soundness Standard for Insurers (previously SAM). 
  • Assisting in the completion of the quantitative reporting templates for statutory reporting of solvency. 
  • Assisting in developing and maintaining the processes and controls used for actuarial valuation and financial reporting activities.
