Our client is a multinational financial services company operating in the insurance sector. They are looking for an experienced Business Development Executive. The role is responsible for product development, actuarial pricing and underwriting as well as preparing proposals for prospective clients and for service delivery to, and retention of, existing clients. The role is based in Cape Town with an opportunity to travel to Latin America and Central America.

Candidates who are interested should have at least 4 years’ insurance industry experience, while commercial experience will be an advantage. You should have strong business acumen and pragmatism with people management principles and practices. You should have strong communication skills, solid technical aptitude and analytical and problem-solving skills. You must work efficiently in a team and pay attention to detail. You must be willing to travel internationally when required.

Responsibilities will include:

• Developing and designing products for new and existing clients.
• Performing actuarial pricing, underwriting and risk analysis for new and existing products.
• Drafting proposals for prospective and existing clients.
• Determining actuarial reserves (IBNRs and UPRs) and assumptions for management and statutory reporting purposes.
• Managing excellent relationships with internal and external business partners – providing pricing and underwriting knowledge and expertise where required.
• Understanding client needs and priorities and ensuring that their needs are met.
• Developing sound business relations with client staff responsible for insurance-related matters.
• Monitoring results of all action plans and effectiveness of plans implemented.
• Reviewing processes, designing and implementing process improvement and optimisation and the ongoing management thereof.
• Ensuring adherence to SLAs.
• Considering current and existing client insurance and reinsurance programmes and development thereof.
• Travelling to Latin America around twice a year.
