Our client is an established financial services company specialising in short- and long-term insurance, health, retirement and multi-manager investment solutions. They are looking for a Qualified Actuary to head their Actuarial team. The purpose of this role is to define and drive the vision and strategy for their actuarial practice.
Candidates who are interested should have at least 10 years’ experience in leading a team of actuaries and should have worked in large financial businesses in a senior management role. You should be a strategic and innovative thinker with expert technical knowledge. You should have excellent oral and written communication, as well as presentation skills. You should be a strong decision-maker with the ability to persuade, influence and lead. You should be an analytical and conceptual thinker with problem-solving and conflict-handling skills.
Responsibilities will include:
- Leading the actuarial team across Retirement Funding, Healthcare and Investments.
- Managing, developing and growing the Actuarial function to be fit for purpose.
- Communicating effectively with all stakeholders including the Executive Committee.
- Setting budgets, meeting profit targets and managing business risks.
- Providing high quality advice and actuarial services to clients, consistently meeting approved quality standards.
- Diversifying the actuarial revenue base to ensure the sustainability of the actuarial practice in future.
- Providing training, guidance and growth opportunities, as well as mentorship to junior members of the team ensuring improved employee engagement and long-term retention of junior talent.
