Full Description:

Our client is a financial services group that offers an extensive, market-leading range of products and services to help clients build and protect their wealth and lifestyle. They are looking for a Senior Actuarial Specialist. The purpose of this role is to provide specialist actuarial advice and support in the development and implementation of specialisation area, enabling the provision of sound commercial and actuarial expertise. 

 

Candidates who are interested must be a Newly or Nearly Qualified Actuary with at least 5 years’ experience in a similar environment, of which at least 3 years are at a specialist level. You should have experience in the life insurance, investments or retirement benefits industry, and have specialist knowledge of actuarial product pricing and/or reserving as well as actuarial modelling. Knowledge about life insurance products is essential, while knowledge of employee benefits products would be an added advantage. Experience in IFRS17 reporting and modelling, especially for Group Insurance and Investment Products, as well as in embedded value/profit reporting and modelling, is preferred. 

 

Responsibilities will include: 

 

  • Consulting in area of expertise to provide specialist input into the development and amendment of policies, processes and procedures.  
  • Understanding and applying existing best practice frameworks to assist in the implementation of identified subject matter processes and standards.  
  • Determining probabilities and assess risk by applying mathematical modelling techniques and statistical concepts.  
  • Translating and communicating complex specialist area information to users in a practical and usable format to enhance business utility.  
  • Identifying, diagnosing and recommending improvements and providing specialist advice and support; ensuring that solutions are appropriate and effective.  
  • Making recommendations to existing products based on market needs, product performance and competitor analysis to increase sales volume and profitability.  
  • Creating and updating database/s with findings, recommendations and relevant information to enhance the identification of trends and analysis.  
  • Planning for the organisation of work outputs and process improvement activities in light of a specific situational context related to the area of specialisation.  
  • Proactively identifying area of specialisation-related problems, determining cause and effect and recommending the best option to implement corrective action based on previous experience.
