Full Description:

Our client is a South African based financial services group. They are looking for a Qualified Actuary to join their Risk Cover Products team as Team Leader. This role is responsible for the development and ongoing management of competitive Risk cover products that address specific client needs, in order to enhance client value proposition across segments.  

Candidates who are interested should have at least 3 years’ experience in a product owner / manager role. You should be knowledgeable about actuarial modelling, product pricing and statistical analysis techniques. Experience in RiskAgility / Prophet, Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), VBA and SQL will be advantageous. You should have the ability to function in a multi-disciplinary team environment, with strong written and verbal communication skills. 

Responsibilities will include: 

  • Analysing product- and client-related data from various sources to identify potential product experience irregularities, ensuring accuracy of insights and analysis.  
  • Analysing competitor products and international trends to provide insight for developing and maintaining competitive end-to-end solutions.  
  • Reviewing experience investigations, modelling and data analysis, to design and price solutions and monitor experience on existing products. 
  • Preparing product health reports and presenting product profitability and insights derived from analyses, to support decision-making and inform appropriate actions.  
  • Developing and maintaining pricing models and bases, reviewing results and ensuring that parameters used are accurate and validated. 
  • Identifying solutions to enhance cost effectiveness and increase operational efficiency of solutions. 
  • Providing expertise and advice on technical/actuarial product matters to clients and stakeholders. 
  • Building and maintaining collaborative working relationships with various internal and external stakeholders, such as solution peers, IT, sales/distribution, legal, servicing and valuations.  
  • Participating and contributing to a culture that builds collaborative relationships, encourages innovation, facilitates feedback and provides exceptional client service. 
  • Demonstrating exemplary leadership behaviour through personal involvement, commitment and dedication in support of organisational values.
