Full Description:

Our client is a leading insurance products and solutions provider based in New Zealand. They are looking for a Qualified Actuary to join their Capital and Reinsurance team as Senior Manager. The purpose of the role is to provide impartial actuarial advice and expertise to the Company to help strengthen their risk and capital management outcomes leading to the increased security of policyholders.

Candidates who are interested should have at least 7 years’ Life Insurance actuarial experience. You should have experience in Board presentations/discussions, and thus have strong communication and people-influencing skills. You should have strong problem-solving skills, be results orientated and have the ability to work under pressure. You should also be able to embrace rapid change, to work in a fast-paced company and to recognise and respond to emerging changes in the industry/environment around the Company.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring that capital management and statutory requirements are met to the satisfaction of the regulator, board and management.
  • Maintaining a sound financial position for the Company and providing accurate Financial Condition reporting.
  • Ensuring that material capital management and reinsurance risks to the financial condition of the Company are identified and reported to the relevant stakeholders.
  • Developing and monitoring an effective capital management framework that optimises the capital position to ensure that capital is deployed efficiently and the Capital Management Plan is adhered to.
  • Managing solvency position to comply with the solvency standard and providing accurate solvency reporting including reinsurance aspects.
  • Providing accurate and timely ICS Reporting (Capital, Embedded Value [EV] and Value of New business (VoNB) complying with ICS and Group requirements.
  • Proactively leading, coaching and developing the team to enable the capital function to have the competence, training, tools and direction to deliver outcomes in line with strategy.
  • Building an effective succession plan, continually aligning skills and resources in the team to meet the needs of the business.
