Technical Marketing Actuary – SA1230

Our client, a leader in the insurance industry, is looking for a Technical Marketing Actuary to join their Actuarial Department. Candidates who are interested should be progressing toward an Actuarial qualification, with a solid understanding of the South African Life Insurance industry, including knowledge about products, processes and other trends, with a focus on the Intermediated Individual Life market. The role focuses on technical marketing and all actuarial duties pertaining to the role. 

Candidates who are interested should have good communication skills with the ability to present to audiences of different sizes, have strong written, presentation and analytical skills, with technical proficiency and an eagerness to expand skills and develop knowledge. You must be able to thrive in a busy environment with multiple deliverables, interact in a team environment and pay attention to detail. 

Responsibilities will include: 

  • Researching competitors and their products in the risk (Life Insurance) space. 
  • Providing tactical responses to new competitor launches and competitor activity in a simple and practical manner that shows opportunities for intermediaries. 
  • Providing input into product development in terms of design of new products and enhancements. 
  • Providing input into product marketing in terms of marketing and training material. 
  • Dealing directly with executives and distribution channels in terms of competitor analysis, special product functionality, presentations, workshops and general product queries. 
  • Travelling from time to time to support the marketing of the various risk product solutions. 
  • Building models and tools to assist distribution in the advice and selling process. 
  • Business development.
