Actuarial Expert: General Insurance – SA1453

Our client is a leading independent actuarial consultancy. They are looking for an Actuarial Expert to join their General Insurance Consulting team. 

Candidates who are interested should be a Qualified Actuary with at least 5 years’ experience in General Insurance, either in pricing or reserving and capital modelling. You should have strong proficiency in statistical modelling techniques and programming languages such as R. Having the short-term insurance practicing certificate would be advantageous. Experience in SAM, ORSAs, valuations and solvency calculations will be beneficial. You should have excellent communication skills (both verbal and written), with proven ability to convey complex messages clearly and with conviction. You should pay attention to details and meet deadlines. 

Responsibilities will include: 

• Capital modelling including reviews of economic capital models, building challenger models and quantitative validation of SAM standard formula.  
• Reinsurance reviews and stochastic optimisation including geospatial modelling 
• Product pricing and design, including working with GLMs, GAMs etc. 
• Building projection models for ORSA and business plans. 
• Reviewing technical provisions including IBNR, UPR, AURR and including stochastic risk adjustment calculations in R/Python. 
• Producing reports, reviews and analyses results and signing on all areas of short-term actuarial services. 
• Assisting clients across Africa with their IFRS17 reporting requirements. 
• Providing technical advice to General Insurance clients across Africa. 
• Performing market studies and research.
