Consultant / Manager: ESG: Climate Risk Management – SA1393

Our client is a global boutique consulting firm that specialises in strategic themes evolving around finance and risk for financial institutions., a Consultant / Manager to join their South African-based ESG: Climate Risk Management team in Johannesburg. 

Candidates who are interested should be a Qualified Actuary with at least 3 years’ experience in banking and financial services (as industry practitioner or management consultant). Candidates with additional qualifications in sustainability such as the GARP SCR certificate would be preferred. You should have ESG experience, knowledge of current regulatory requirements relating to ESG (in particular ECB Guide on Climate and Environmental Risk, SA (EU)-Taxonomy, NFRD/CSRD, EBA guideline on Pillar 3 reporting) as well as other frameworks (TCFD, Sustainable Bond Principles). You should have exceptional written and verbal communication as well as presentation skills.  

Responsibilities will include: 

• Integrating ESG into strategy and bank steering. 
• Performing Climate Risk Stress Testing and ICAAP integration. 
• Calculating emissions (PCAF). 
• Developing Decarbonisation targets (SBTi / PACTA). 
• Preparing regulatory disclosure and reporting (TCFD reports, Sustainability reports).
