Data Science Actuary – SA1434

Our client is a growing, fast-paced and dynamic company that provides innovative risk assurance products to individual clients. They are looking for a Data Science Actuary to join their Advanced Analytics team, which focuses on supporting the development and implementation of data science projects in the Advanced Analytics (Data Science) function of the business.

Candidates who are interested should be a Nearly or Newly Qualified Actuary with demonstrable knowledge of and experience in statistical modelling, data mining, machine learning or optimisation. You should have at least 2 years’ related work experience. Advanced knowledge of SQL and proficiency in at least one of R, Python or Spark interpreters is required.

Responsibilities will include:

• Mining large structured and unstructured datasets for data exploration to find new insights.
• Performing data investigations to inform operational efficiency and interaction strategies.
• Transforming data into meaningful model inputs and data pipelines.
• Developing and refining predictive models such as fraud, underwriting and customer behavioural models.
• Supporting model implementation and monitoring model performance.
• Further developing existing models and researching new techniques to fully use the rich data universe of the company.
