Head of Business Intelligence – SA1454

Our client is a comprehensive insurance scheme designed to provide cover for the financial losses of South African businesses and individuals. They are looking for a Qualified Actuary to head their Business Intelligence team. This role is responsible for the identification and monitoring of key underwriting risk metrics, management of the catastrophe model, management of probable maximum loss studies and, undertaking critical research to develop the company’s intelligence regarding critical and emerging underwriting risks. 

Responsibilities will include: 

• Identifying, tracking and reporting on the key risks affecting the company’s underwriting risk profile. 
• Developing, maintaining and managing the company’s catastrophe model. 
• Developing, maintaining and managing the company’s Probable Maximum Loss (PML) studies. 
• Mitigating various risks and performing risk analytics. 
• Collecting and managing data. 
• Contributing to the successful achievement of the company’s vision, strategy and business plan, by assisting with the resolution of problems that pose a threat to the company of not achieving its vision, strategy and business plan. 
• Contributing to the creation of the company’s long term strategy and short term business plan. 
• Shaping the company’s risk culture. 
• Managing individual and team performance to achieve individual and organization goals and objectives.
